Jenn Smith, MA , RCT, CCC
My education and careers in business, fine arts, teaching, and counselling have equipped me with a compassionate interest in women's lives and experiences. Through various stages of life; being a Mum to two grown daughters, a wife (twice!), a proud Nana, and living and teaching in both England and Nova Scotia, I have experienced many of life's ups and downs, while attempting to find a healthy balance in life.
Counselling offers a time and safe space for clients to explore, talk, be listened to and begin to know that they are the experts of their own lives. Using a client-centered, biopsychosocial approach and techniques from cognitive processing therapy, cognitive and dialectical behaviour therapies, and narrative therapy, I will work with you to address issues and reach your goals.
My education and designations:
-
Master of Arts, Counselling Psychology (MACP), Yorkville University
-
as a registered counselling therapist (RCT) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, and
-
as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association
-
Registration and certification ensure adherence to standards and ethics of practice, and a requirement for ongoing professional development
-
Bachelor of Education (Mount St. Vincent), Bachelor of Fine Arts (NSCAD University) and Bachelor of Secretarial Science (Acadia University)
